The surgeries can dispense to all patients that live 1 mile away from the nearest chemist, which is Rowlands in Kington High Street. Prescriptions issued during your consultation can be dispensed while you wait. If you live within 1 mile of the nearest chemist, then you will be issued with the prescription for you to take to a chemist. You can take your prescription to any chemist.
When ordering repeat medication you must give at least 3 working days notice.
Ordering your Repeat Medication
To order your repeat medication you need to do one of the following:
Fill out the repeat request slip that comes with your prescription and hand it into the dispensary at Kington. There are allocated ‘repeat prescription’ boxes situated at the surgery so that you do not have to wait to hand your request to a member of staff. Alternatively, if you collect your medication from the chemist in Kington then you can take your request form to them. If you have not got a request form then you can write down your request, making sure we have your name, address, date of birth, name of the medication and where you would like to collect your medication from.
You can also register for Patient Access Online to order your repeat medication, Please see reception if you wish to register.
Delivery Service Announcement : There will be no Prescription Deliveries for dispensing patients on the following dates:
25th October - 31st October
19th November - 23rd November
10th December - 14th December
Please make sure you have made other arrangements for you medication collection during these times.
We do not accept repeat prescription request over the telephone.
All prescriptions must be paid for when collected unless a valid exemption certificate is produced. It is possible to pay for a ‘season ticket’ called a pre-payment if you have several prescriptions. Please ask a member of the dispensary team about this as it can work out more cost effective for you.
The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)
This will soon be available. EPS allows you to nominate the most convenient pharmacy to collect your medication from. Prescription requests are signed digitally and sent via secure electronic message to your nominated pharmacy, saving you a trip to the GP practice to collect the paper prescription.
You can also nominate a Dispensing Appliance Contractor for items such as catheters and stoma appliances.
EPS is reliable, secure and confidential. Your electronic prescription will be seen by the same people in GP practices, pharmacies, and NHS prescription payment and fraud agencies that see your paper prescription now.
You can check or change your preferred pharmacy at any time: your GP practice or any EPS enabled pharmacy can help you do this. Why not ask at the pharmacy the next time you collect your prescription?
The EPS service is currently only available between GP Practices and Pharmacies in England. Patients using a pharmacy in Wales can continue to collect their prescriptions in the usual manner.
